This course is designed for students who have studied Mandatory History, Mandatory Geography and/or one of the HSIE electives (including Commerce) in Stage 5.
Business Studies at Stage 6 empowers students to become informed and responsible citizens by developing knowledge, understanding, skills and values relevant to their interactions with business and participation in a dynamic business environment.
Business Studies investigates the role, operation and management of businesses within our society. Factors in the establishment, operation and management of SME’s are integral to this course. Students investigate the role of global business and its impact on Australian business. Students develop research and independent learning skills in addition to analytical and problem solving competencies through their studies

The Preliminary course is based on a study of four compulsory topics and the completion of a Business Research Task. The Business Research Task is a project undertaken throughout the course to support course concepts. The ordering of topics is not prescriptive and in practice may be influenced by students’ needs, interests and access to case study and other resources.
